Kristin Hawes joined the firm as Senior Counsel in 2011, with a practice focused on commercial and residential real estate transactions. Her experience includes retail, office and industrial leasing work for both landlords and tenants; drafting and negotiation of purchase and sale agreements and related instruments; real estate development and construction financing; formation of joint ventures; and counseling of brokers and individuals on all aspects of residential real estate. Prior to joining SSL, Kristin was general counsel and secretary to one of the largest independent residential real estate brokerage companies in the Pacific Northwest. She was also a principal attorney at Seattle's Fikso Kretschmer Smith Dixon PS, specializing in commercial real estate transactions. She is licensed to practice in Washington and New York, and is a member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Section of the Washington State Bar Association. Early in her career, she worked as an assistant public defender in upstate New York, and she maintains an interest in the provision of low-cost legal services. Kristin graduated cum laude from Claremont McKenna College. She received her law degree from New York University School of Law, where she was a staff editor at the Annual Survey of American Law and ran the High School Law Institute. |
