Ms. Shekou is a Partner of the firm.
Ms. Shekou has a broad commercial real estate practice and extensive experience in the areas of real estate acquisitions and dispositions, commercial leasing, and commercial financing. Ms. Shekou has represented landlords, including REITS and other institutional owners, and tenants, including publicly traded companies, in the leasing of millions of square feet of office, industrial, and retail space nationwide. Ms. Shekou also represents buyers and sellers of office, industrial, retail and mixed use projects, as well as apartment properties and raw land throughout the country. She has worked with both borrowers and lenders on construction and permanent financings, mezzanine loans, loan work-outs and loan modifications. Her clients include financial institutions, REITs, pension funds and investment advisors, internet start-ups and some of the country’s largest high technology companies. Prior to joining SSL Law Firm, Ms. Shekou was a member of the real estate department of Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe. Ms. Shekou began her legal career at Latham & Watkins, focusing in the areas of commercial real estate, project finance, land use and environmental law.
Ms. Shekou received a B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley in 1992, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa with Highest Honors. She received her J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law in 1995. She is admitted to practice law in California and is a member of the Real Estate Section of the State Bar of California.
